Daniel Lewis Lee was executed Tuesday morning making it the first execution of a federal inmate in 17 years. Daniel Lewis Lee had been scheduled for the lethal dose of pentobarbital at 4 p.m. EDT Monday. It was initially put to a stop due to a lower court order, until the Supreme Court took the initiative in a 5-4 vote overnight, giving the execution the green light.
Daniel Lewis Lee, was a self proclaimed white supremacist who tortured and killed an Arkansas family – including an 8-year-old girl.
The Trump administration had announced last year that capital punishment would be making a return.
Two other executions are in line this week with Wesley Ira Purkey’s on Wednesday, and Dustin Lee Honken’s on Friday.
